  • Oil and Fuel Spill Pads and Socks

Our fuel and oil spill pads and socks are designed to allow you to quickly and easily manage spills before they escalate. Simply lay down as many pads or socks as you need and allow them to soak up the spill before appropriately disposing of them. Spill granules are a great way to handle fuel and oil spills of any size. Simply open the bag, pour the granules on the affected area, then sweep them up and dispose of them appropriately. We offer two types of environmentally conscious spill granules, made from recycled gypsum and recycled wood fibre respectively, which can absorb up to 30 L of fluid with just a 15 kg bag.

  • Drip Trays / Spill Catchers

From small, 24 L drip trays all the way to 1,100 L spill pallets, we stock a range of drip trays and spill catchers, perfect for placing under fuel containers and other storage equipment to prevent spills before they even happen. All are constructed from durable, chemical-resistant plastics.

What Should You Consider Before Choosing a Spill Pad?

Spill Pad Size

It’s important to evaluate the size of the spill pads before purchase. Larger spill pads will be able to absorb more fuel or oil but will take more space to store and be heavier once saturated. Make sure you select the right size for your needs. At Lapwing, we stock spill pads in 400 x 500 mm, with some of our kits containing mini spill pads for smaller spills.

Spill Pad Thickness

As well as size, the thickness of your spill pad will also affect not only the rate at which it can absorb fluids but also the total volume of fuel or oil that it can hold before becoming saturated. Our spill pads are designed to offer the perfect blend between absorption speed and capacity.

Spill Pad Absorbency Rate

Some pads will feature a different fibre structure than others and be made from varying materials, which can affect the rate at which they can absorb fuel and oil. It’s important to consider the absorbency rate of your pads before you buy, as speed is usually a concern when spills do happen, to prevent toxic substances from damaging the environment.

Spill Pad Packaging

You might not consider it, but the way your fuel and oil spill pads are packaged can also make a difference to your ability to act in an emergency. For example, our spill pads come in durable, clip-top bags that not only protect the pads prior to use but also serve as handy disposal bags when the pads have been used. Not all pads are packaged that well.
